Mist over trees

Heartwood Stand

Work that starts in the forest.

Sometimes the work is at a bench. Sometimes at the mill or kiln. And sometimes in the forest.

Heartwood Stand follows wood from where it falls to whatever it becomes next — logs, boards, projects, mistakes, finished pieces, and the occasional good idea.

The goal isn’t perfection. Just useful things, honest material, and the satisfaction of making something solid.

But it all starts in the forest.

Where it grows

From forest to form

Fallen tree. Milling. Drying. Shaping. Sometimes building. Sometimes rebuilding. Sometimes just standing there looking at a log, wondering what it wants to become.

This site is a place to keep track of the work, the land, the tools, and whatever comes out of them.
